Scotland in 2014: The Place to be

the Saltire - Scotland's beautiful Flag

2014 is an exciting year for Scotland, a really exciting one.  We have some of the world’s top sports people coming to town as we host both the Commonwealth Games and the Ryder Cup.  And these are just two of the reasons that travel giant Lonely Planet has stated that Scotland is the third most essential holiday destination in 2014. Not only are there sports events happening but important political change could be afoot from September 2014 as the Scottish people answer the question: Should Scotland be an independent country?  And against this potential political sea-change, Scotland’s Year of Homecoming is happening to showcase all that is great about the greatest wee country on earth* and there will be a year long programme of events and activities to show why we have that moniker!

So in light of all these exciting things that are happening, we thought we should showcase some of the events that are happening and, of course give some wee tips on how to save cash if you choose to attend them. We’ve throw in some freebie events too!
