What is Earth Day?

Earth Day takes place each year on the 22nd of April. It is a global environmental movement with more than 192 nations taking part across the world, united with one goal in mind: to celebrate our earth and the environment.

The first Earth Day affected some major environmental polices in the United States, which led to the creation of the US Environmental Protection Agency and paved the way for the Clean Air, Clean Water and Endangered Species acts to be introduced.

  This week is Scottish Renewable Energy week. At the annual conference for Scottish Renewables today, Stuart Reid from HW Energy said he was urging consumers to swap their current boilers for newer technology. Boilers are beginning to get a bit of a reputation for not being energy efficient and given that most power companies are making the necessary changes to reduce their carbon footprints, it’s no surprise that we are now being urged to introduce new technology into our homes and workplaces. Grangemouth Crisis: an open letter to the workers

I admire people who have the courage to stand up for their convictions.

However, I’m struggling to believe that chairman Stephen Deans, and secretary Pat Rafferty, of Unite Scotland, a union that represents hundreds of our workers, had clear motives when they encouraged the union to instigate industrial action against Ineos, the largest privately owned company in the UK.
